The United Arab Emirates are commonly known for their oil production but luckily enough this beautiful country has so much more to offer. Its stunning nature, its wide range of tourist attractions and of course its hospitable people are also worth a visit to this beautiful country. The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Public Works is responsible for the overall well-being and quality of life of all citizens and for the creation and maintenance of general infrastructure and federal social housing projects in villages and cities. Such an important governmental body requires a modern website and because big part of the current Internet users are mobile phone users we decided to go for a fully-responsive website. This means we needed to create a distinct website display for each and every screen resolution in order to display an optimal website for each and every website visitor.

The action plan

When we kicked off this PSD to HTML project we almost instantly experienced this wouldn’t be a standard 6 page project. The Ministry of Public Works had appealed to a company to develop about 30 website pages which all needed to be converted from PSD to HTML. We were requested to make use of the latest conversion and website standards in order to ensure a long-term website quality. To guarantee a long-term high-quality website we therefore opted for the new HTML5 and CSS3. We didn’t consider normal HTML and CSS3 because the whole website, which means all 30 pages, needed to be made fully-responsive. To ensure a smooth conversion process our developers analyzed the whole project and website. The client answered several questions until it was completely clear which website functionalities were required. We were ready to start working on the functionalities of one of our biggest PSD to HTML conversion projects ever!

Responsive HTML5 and CSS3 as a basis

As mentioned before, without doubt this PSD to HTML project was one of our biggest conversion projects ever. To ensure a smooth conversion process and to work as quickly and efficiently as possible multiple developers were fully dedicated to this project. First of all one of the developers completed the PSD to HTML5 homepage conversion after which the other developers could use the header and footer to start converting the pages which they had been assigned to. Using the same header and footer is of crucial importance because the homepage reflects the base structure which needs to be used as a basis for all website pages. The homepage conversion developer had also set-up a fully-responsive homepage structure which eased the task of the other developers because they only had to develop the content of the remaining pages and could use the yet determined elements and fully-responsive structure. Some weeks, about thirty pages, lots of man-hours, different sliders, accordions, pop-ups and jquery animations later the complete project was ready to be reviewed by the client.

The last mile

After the client had reviewed all website pages and shared his feedback with our developers we made sure the final website delivery was spic-and-span and custom made. Our client highly appreciated the end result which made us happy too. Having had this positive experience, we are really looking forward to future United Arab Emirates clients which appeal to our company for their PSD conversion projects.
