Safety is priority... that’s for sure the motto in each and every building company. This does not only apply to the people who are constructing those buildings but also to the buildings itself because a minor mistake can have fatal and dramatic consequences. Geo Trade is a company which delivers new and used materials which are used by building companies to guarantee this safety. One should think about materials like level instruments, lasers or measuring equipment. Besides selling materials via their online webshop, they also offer expert advice, demonstrations and calibration and reparation of all kinds of building instruments.
Time for a brand new website
The current website has been in use for several years and is the company’s online business card. Because the website has been used for several years everything is clearly outdated and it is not clear at all to visitors that his website contains a webshop. Therefore there was an urgent need to renew the webshop which starts by creating a brand new design. It was a real need to make it clear to visitors they were visiting a webshop in which they could sell building materials but also to make sure the company’s information could be easily found. In the beginning we considered making a new responsive webshop but because visitor analysis had proven only a small amount of visitors were consulting the website’s webshop by means of a tablet or smartphone we decided a responsive design would be unnecessary.
The basic colors in a brand new lay-out
Since the beginning yellow has always been the company’s basic color. Therefore the designers had made sure yellow was clearly represented on all pages of the website. They also opted for a big image at the top of the website showing the visitors immediately a clear image of the website’s objective. A clear box structure was used to display the different products, making it immediately clear to all visitors they were visiting a webshop. Upon design approval by the client, we were appealed to, to execute the PSD to Joomla process and to build a webshop by means of the Virtuemart plugin.

Before we took a start, we first analyzed and reviewed all PSD files in cooperation with the client to avoid future misunderstandings or issues about the website’s functionalities. When everything was clear the first project phase could be kicked off, the actual design to HTML and CSS conversion, making sure everything was properly displayed in all browsers and optimizing everything for search engine use and to increase the loading time. Upon completing the HTML and CSS development phase it was time to start the Joomla conversion by making use of the Virtuemart plugin, a plugin which allows the users to easily maintain and manage the webshop and which provides all necessary webshop functionalities. The whole PSD to a fully-functional Joomla Virtuemart webshop conversion process took about 12 working days and the result was just stunning! A beautiful webshop which could be easily managed by means of the user-friendly Joomla CMS. Our satisfied client could now start adding products and other content, replacing the old and outdated website and significantly increasing the website’s conversion rate.
