The MijnRolgordijnen owners initially appealed to an American PSD to Magento company to complete their PSD to Magento process. Converting a website to Magento nevertheless is no easy task which can be realized in the blink of an eye and without proper knowledge, converting a website to Magento requires experienced and skilled professionals which can realize a high-quality Magento website. When looking for a suitable company to realize their conversion, the MijnRolgordijnen client had mainly focused on the price aspect. Offering a quote well below $1500, the seemingly obvious choice was to go for that company. After delivering the PSD to Magento process the whole project initially worked quite well. After a while though, the first issues occurred because the company had used an existing template which was altered to suit the MijnRolgordijnen requirements and needs. This resulted in a messy code with an unclear structure and a whole bunch of bugs and errors which couldn’t be solved by the original company. The owners therefore decided to contact our company.
A badly designed code
After contacting our company we took a quick look at the website and we almost felt pity for the client. The website consisted of a really badly designed code. Nevertheless, after some initial code review we were able to determine the errors and to propose a clear solution which was shared and discussed with the client. After setting down the project on paper, we were given a final client approval and we kicked off the correction process of the coding mess which was left behind by the previous PSD to Magento company.
Rebuilding the templates
The biggest challenge was to come up with a solution to resolve the errors which occurred on a webpage where clients had to enter specific details after selecting one of the available roller blinds. Although we initially tried to correct the existing code, pretty soon our developers concluded rebuilding the website from scratch would be a lot easier because the bad quality code would cause a lot of conflicts and a realistic chance for new bugs. Rebuilding the webpage took us only about an hour and afterwards everything met the client’s requirements. After adjusting this page, we still had to adjust several other pages like the contact page and a page on which visitors could request their personal color samples for free. Our PSD to Magento developers rebuilt all of the pages in order to guarantee a smooth and secure full-functionality.
Admin panel review
After resolving the errors which had been caused by the previous PSD to Magento company our developers still had to review and adjust the website’s backend. First of all they had to review the language settings for different parts of the website in order for visitors to choose their preferred language and next also the invoices had to be reviewed because the current invoice lay-out was rather messy and would never get approved by the tax authorities. We were able to resolve the outstanding issues over a short space of time allowing the client to still start using his website and to start selling roller blinds. Upon successfully completing the MijnRolGordijnen project we had gained the client’s confidence and he has become a regular client who has already submitted various PSD to Magento projects.
