Israel is a sun-drenched country, possessing conditions which are more than ideal to cultivate a wide variety of vegetables and fruit. The company Terra appealed to our company to realize the PSD to Wordpress process of their finalized designs because their website demanded an urgent revamp and modernization. Because of their international bonds and objectives one of the main PSD to Wordpress process requirements was to create website which couldn’t only be displayed in Hebrew but also in English allowing also non-Hebrew speaking people to consult their website. Because the company offers a wide variety of vegetables and fruit, another main requirement involved the separate fruit and vegetable presentation and display in order for potential clients to be able to obtain the required information of one specific website product.

Facing a tight deadline

Before kicking off the PSD to Wordpress project we agreed a tight deadline of 9 working days because of the website’s low complexity level. Although agreeing a 9 working day deadline with our client we set an internal deadline of about 5 to 7 working days giving us a few days’ margin in case issues or unexpected obstacles would occur, something we didn’t really expect to happen. As soon as we had agreed on the project details with our client, we were sent the PSD files via mail. The PSD file structure nevertheless was far from perfect and we were also missing the layers which are normally provided by the designers. Our developers were not held back by this disappointment and immediately and quickly started building various HTML pages. As soon as we had completed the HTML we started developing the stylesheet to realize the visual display of the website, a display which was multiple browser optimized.

Developing the Wordpress theme

Upon completion by the developers and upon a final review of the HTML and stylesheet, we could kick off the real PSD to Wordpress process. The HTML files were provided with the necessary Wordpress codes allowing them to be used dynamically as a Wordpress theme. Upon completing the HTML file conversion on its turn, we installed the standard Wordpress installation on our test server after which we uploaded the Wordpress theme via the Wordpress admin dashboard. We could now start to create the required informative pages and product pages, but that was not it.

A multilingual website for international use

At that moment the website was only available in Hebrew and a plugin was required to duplicate the Hebrew pages to easily add English content afterwards. It wasn’t the first time our PSD to Wordpress developers had used this multilingual plugin and therefore it didn’t take them very long to convert the whole website into a multilingual one. After completing the multilingual aspects of the website by our PSD to Wordpress developers, we presented the website to our client. To err is human; therefore a few minor lay-out flaws were detected. Luckily enough we only needed a few hours to resolve all of the issues. Because of this we managed to deliver the completed Wordpress theme within 7 working days and therefore clearly within the 9 working days we had agreed in advance. This resulted in a happy client who was not only satisfied about the delivery time but also about the overall Wordpress quality.
